Everytown for Gun Safety

Send a message: Urge Gov. Youngkin to sign gun safety legislation!

After two years of stalled progress on gun safety in the Commonwealth, this year our gun sense champions in the House and Senate got to work passing dozens of bills to keep our communities safe. These include a ban on assault weapons and ghost guns, requiring secure storage, and ensuring accountability from bad actors in the gun industry. Our gun sense lawmakers are passing bills that address nearly every aspect of the gun violence crisis in Virginia.

Some of these bills are already heading to Governor Youngkin's desk, and many more are in their final stages of consideration in the General Assembly. We're urging the Governor to stand with the overwhelming majority of Virginians who want stronger gun safety laws by signing these bills into law when they reach his desk—not standing with the gun lobby and their "guns everywhere" agenda by vetoing them.

Dear Governor Youngkin,

As a resident of the Commonwealth, I urge you to stand with the majority of Virginians and sign critical gun safety bills into law when they reach your desk. Some of these bills include:

  • Prohibitions on assault weapons (HB2 and SB2) and ghost guns (HB173 and SB100)
  • Requiring secure storage of guns to keep them out of the hands of children and people legally prohibited from having them (HB183 and SB368)
  • Holding bad actors in the gun industry accountable when their misconduct contributes to our gun violence crisis and harms Virginians (HB318 and SB491)
  • I also support many of the other gun safety bills that passed the General Assembly this session to promote secure firearm storage, keep guns out of sensitive areas, create waiting periods for gun purchases, expand community violence intervention programs, prohibit auto sears, strengthen our laws on public carry and firearm training, and promote the use of Substantial Risk Orders.

Please don't pass this crucial opportunity up to do the right thing. Thank you.
