This year, Maine is moving one step closer to passing a Red Flag law – a law that more and more states are passing to prevent gun tragedies like mass shootings and gun suicides.
A Red Flag law would empower family members and law enforcement officers to petition for an "Extreme Risk Protection Order" that temporarily restricts a person’s access to guns when there is evidence that they are at risk of using guns to harm themselves or others. We are looking to our state lawmakers to pass this gun safety measure to keep Maine safe.
