Right now, our lawmakers in the House of Representatives have the chance to make a huge difference in the fight to end gun violence.
As a part of this year's funding negotiations, they can make a historic investment in Community Violence Intervention (CVI) programs. By providing targeted support to individuals at risk of involvement in violence activities and addressing the underlying factors contributing to violence, CVI saves lives and keeps communities safe.
We need our lawmakers to support strategies proven to prevent gun violence.
Send your message: Tell your U.S. representative to fund Community Violence Intervention programs!
Dear Representative,
As one of your constituents I wanted to take a moment to express my strong support for Community Violence Intervention (CVI) programs during the upcoming appropriations process. Federal funding for CVI programs isn't just important; it's life-saving.
I am aware of the many critical issues that you must consider as you work tirelessly to represent our district and our state. However, I believe that investment in CVI is paramount for the safety and well-being of our community.
The effectiveness of CVI programs is backed by substantial evidence. By providing targeted support to individuals at risk of involvement in violent activities and addressing the underlying factors contributing to violence, CVI saves lives and keeps communities safe.
By preventing gun violence through targeted, community-based interventions, we not only save lives, but we also reduce the toll gun violence takes on our healthcare system, law enforcement, and emergency services.
I kindly request your support in ensuring that robust funding for CVI programs are included in any funding legislation for Fiscal Year 2024. Congress has done so, on a bipartisan basis, before, and must now do so again. This investment will help make our community a safer place for our families and future generations. I believe that by working together, we can take meaningful steps toward reducing gun violence and enhancing the quality of life for all residents of our district.
