Everytown for Gun Safety

Connecticut needs Ethan's Law

This year, Connecticut has the chance to pass a stronger safe firearms storage law — known as Ethan's Law — to prevent gun violence tragedies like unintentional shootings, gun suicides, and mass shootings.

This bill would strengthen current Connecticut law by requiring that all firearms — whether they're loaded or unloaded — be securely stored in places where they can't be accessed by someone under the age of 18, someone who is legally prohibited from having guns, or someone who is a danger to themselves or others.

This law can help prevent tragic deaths like Ethan's. Ethan died at only 15 years old in an unintentional shooting after accessing an unsafely stored gun. It's time to pass this life-saving law in Connecticut.
