Everytown for Gun Safety

Tell Vermont Lawmakers: Keep Guns out of Bars!

The research is clear: the combination of alcohol and firearms is a deadly one.

Research shows that alcohol is associated with an increased risk of aggression, and people under the influence of alcohol are both more likely to be shot and more likely to kill someone else.

In fact, nearly half of all individuals convicted of homicide were under the influence of alcohol at the time of the homicide.

Burlington residents recognize that; that's why a staggering 85% of them voted to keep guns out of bars earlier this year.

But now, we need Vermont lawmakers to approve the charter change to give Burlington residents what they voted for and keep guns out of bars.

Burlington voters should be able to take steps to make their communities safer. Tell your Vermont lawmakers to support banning guns in bars in Burlington >>

Dear Lawmaker,

As a concerned Vermont resident, I am urging you to support Burlington’s recent charter change banning guns in bars.

This charter change is supported by 85% of Burlington residents, and it’s not hard to see why. Alcohol and guns are a deadly combination, and people under the influence of alcohol are both more likely to be shot and more likely to kill someone else.

Burlington should be allowed to take steps to make its community safer. I hope you will support this life-saving measure.
