Virginia lawmakers are closer than ever to passing a slate of life-saving gun violence prevention bills this session, but we need your help to get them over this finish line.
This year, we're demanding our lawmakers take action to pass common-sense gun safety legislation, like banning all assault weapons, requiring gun owners to store their guns securely, and strengthening protections for survivors of intimate partner violence.
Your lawmakers need to hear from you. Tell your lawmakers to prioritize gun violence prevention policies in 2026!
Dear Lawmaker,
As a Virginian, I am writing to urge you to support and prioritize passing life-saving gun violence prevention bills this legislative session. Legislation that does things like:
- Raise the age to own a firearm from 18 to 21 (SB 643/ HB 1525)
- Ban the sale of all assault weapons and large capacity magazines regardless of when they were manufactured (HB 217, SB 749)
- Prohibit ghost guns (HB 40, SB 323)
- Hold the gun industry accountable for the gun violence epidemic (HB 21, SB 27)
- Establish a Gun Violence Prevention Center (HB 969, SB 364)
- Require gun owners to store their guns securely (HB 871, SB 348)
- Strengthen protections for survivors of intimate partner violence (HB 19, HB 93, SB 38, SB 160)
2026 can be the year that Virginia becomes a leader in gun safety, and I’m counting on you to take action to protect me, my family, and my community this session.
