As your constituent, I urge you to support the Attorney General's package of gun safety bills and ask that they be brought before the Judiciary Committee for a vote.
Shootings continue to plague our communities here in Rhode Island. These widely supported bills will help protect our state from gun violence by:
- Regulating assault weapons and prohibiting high-capacity magazines
- Preventing people from avoiding required background checks
- Prohibiting the open carry of loaded rifles and shotguns
- Keeping guns out of our schools
- Requiring secure storage of firearms to prevent suicide and theft
We can't afford to wait another year. I urge you to pass this common-sense package of bills before the end of the legislative session.
