Everytown for Gun Safety

Tell Your New York Legislators to Support Gun Violence Prevention This Session

New York has proven itself to be a national leader in gun violence prevention, and thanks to your voice, we were able to make tremendous progress last year—passing seven new gun safety laws that are working to hold the gun industry accountable and keep our communities safe.

We need your voice again.

New York lawmakers introduced three bills this session aimed at putting an end to gun violence in our state. These bills would:

  • Prohibit the sale of any semi-automatic handguns that can easily be converted into fully automatic machine guns simply by the installation of a Glock switch.
  • Give New York one of the best secure gun storage laws in the country, keeping guns out of the hands of people who shouldn't have them and preventing gun theft.
  • Make New York's Office of Gun Violence Prevention a comprehensive hub for coordination of gun violence prevention strategies, grants, research, and community resources.
  • Gun violence in our state is not an inevitability. Send a message to your lawmakers today telling them to cosponsor these important bills.

    Dear Lawmaker,

As one of your constituents, I am writing to urge you to cosponsor three important gun violence prevention bills this legislative session:

  • S.399 (Myrie) / A.199 (Solages), which prohibits the future sales of any semi-automatic handguns that can easily be converted into fully automatic machine guns simply by the installation of a Glock switch.
  • S.3385 (Hoylman-Sigal) / A.1962-A (Anderson), also known as Francesco's Law, which would give New York one of the best secure firearm storage laws in the country, keeping guns out of the hands of kids and other people who shouldn't have them and preventing gun theft.
  • S.1289 (Myrie) / A.2084 (Chandler-Waterman), which would codify New York's Office of Gun Violence Prevention in statute and make it a comprehensive hub for coordination of gun violence prevention grants, strategies, research, and community resources.
  • New York has proven itself to be a leader in gun violence prevention, but there is still room for progress. I hope you'll consider taking action to keep New Yorkers safe from gun violence this session.
