Everytown for Gun Safety

Stop Permitless Carry in Nebraska: Tell Your Senator to Oppose This Dangerous Gun Bill!

Last year, we defeated a dangerous permitless carry bill that would have made it easier for guns to fall into the wrong hands and flood public spaces.

Now, Nebraska legislators are trying again with the introduction of LB 77, a similar bill that will chip away at public safety in our state if passed.

LB 77 would lower the bar for who may carry hidden handguns in public in Nebraska –making it easier for people with violent histories to carry loaded handguns in crowded town centers and on city streets.

Our lawmakers are holding hearings on this bill, and we must show them how much we oppose it!

Dear State Senator,

As a Nebraska resident, I'm urging you to oppose another dangerous permitless carry bill, LB 77.

LB 77 would lower the bar for who may carry concealed handguns in public in Nebraska, making it easier for people with violent histories to carry hidden, loaded handguns in crowded town centers and on city streets.

Requiring a permit and background check before carrying a concealed, loaded firearm is a common-sense way to ensure responsible gun ownership and protect Nebraskans from gun violence. We cannot afford to strip away this life-saving requirement. When Missouri repealed its purchase permit law requiring background checks, the state experienced an up to 27 percent increase in its firearm homicide rate and a 16 percent increase in its firearm suicide rate.

Please listen to your constituents and oppose LB 77.

Thank you for working to make our state safer.
