Everytown for Gun Safety

Missouri Senators: Don't Defy Federal Gun Laws!

Politicians backed by the gun lobby are trying to make certain federal gun laws null and void in the state of Missouri.

This is not the first time state lawmakers have attempted to nullify federal gun laws in Missouri. A similar bill passed just four years ago. That law was promptly challenged in the courts, where it was struck down as unconstitutional by the Eighth Circuit Court last summer.

But Missouri lawmakers are back at it again, trying to pass another nullification bill that makes our communities less safe. We're not going to let them win. Tell your state senator to vote NO on HB 1175!

Dear Lawmaker,

As your constituent, I'm urging you to protect Missouri law enforcement's ability to work with federal counterparts to prevent gun crimes by voting NO on HB 1175.

HB 1175 would subvert and undermine federal gun laws and penalize state and local law enforcement agencies who attempt to assist in the enforcement of certain federal gun safety protections. The safety of Missouri communities relies on unrestricted collaboration between law enforcement officials in our state and federal law enforcement officials.

Chilling this important collaboration between law enforcement officials will NOT make our state a safer place. I care deeply about making sure that Missouri is a place where we all can thrive—without the fear of gun violence.

As your constituent, I hope you share my concerns and will vote accordingly. Again, I'm urging you to vote NO on HB 1175. Thank you.
