Massachusetts lawmakers just introduced a massive bill to keep our communities safe from gun violence.
This critical bill would take the comprehensive action we need to ensure that the Commonwealth remains a leader in the fight against gun violence—we need our lawmakers to prioritize it for a hearing.
Send a message now urging your state senator and representative to support HD.4420 >>
Dear Lawmaker,
As your constituent, I urge you to support An Act Modernizing Firearm Laws (HD.4420), sponsored by House Judiciary Chair Michael Day, and to ask that it be given a hearing as soon as possible.
This bill will take the comprehensive action we need to ensure that Massachusetts remains a leader in the fight against gun violence. It will keep us all safer by ensuring that people who want to carry guns in our communities receive safety training and don't have a history of dangerous behavior that would make them a risk to public safety. This is especially important after the Supreme Court's Bruen decision last year opened the door to more people carrying guns in public in our communities.
It will also help stem the flow of illegal guns, increase analysis of crime gun data, modernize our laws to address emerging threats such as ghost guns, keep dangerous assault weapons out of Massachusetts, study ways to improve our funding structure for community violence intervention programs, and explore new innovative gun safety technologies.
I urge you to make gun violence prevention a top priority and support this important bill. Thank you.
