Illinois has some of the strongest gun safety laws in the country, but more can be done at the state level to protect communities from gun violence like the tragedy in Highland Park and the gun violence experienced across the state every day.
Send the following message urging Illinois lawmakers to pass life-saving legislation during the special session.
Dear Illinois Lawmaker,
As your constituent and a gun safety supporter, I'm urging you to pass life-saving legislation to prevent gun violence during the special session later this year. The state should prohibit the sale and possession of assault weapons and high capacity magazines and provide funding for community violence intervention and victims assistance programming to help save lives in communities hit hardest by gun violence.
Illinois has been a leader in prioritizing strong gun safety laws, but we know that there is more we can do to keep our state safe.
Please continue to hold yourself to a higher standard than that of gun violence enablers and pass this legislation during the special session. Thank you for protecting our communities from gun violence.
