Everytown for Gun Safety

Tell the California State Senate: Justice for homicide victims' families!

Too many families in California have had their loved ones taken by gun violence, and far too many wait year after year, never getting answers or closure.

When a case has gone unsolved for over three years, family members of murder victims should have the right to request that law enforcement conduct an unsolved homicide case file review to determine whether a full reinvestigation could result in new leads.

Tell your state senator: Help end gun violence and heal homicide victims' families—pass AB 15!

Dear Lawmaker,

Too many families in California have had their loved ones taken by gun violence, and far too many wait year after year never getting answers or closure. When a case has gone unsolved for over three years, family members of murder victims should have the right to request that law enforcement conduct an unsolved homicide case file review to determine whether a full reinvestigation could result in new leads.

If passed into law, AB 15 will help solve gun crimes, which is key to preventing gun violence and promoting healing among survivors. It will provide more transparency and equitable access to justice and healing by creating a process for family members to request a case file review for open unsolved homicide cases. The bill also includes guardrails to minimize costs and burdens on law enforcement.

Thank you for listening to my concerns. Please support AB 15 to keep our communities safe and support the families of homicide victims.
