Pennsylvania has made important investments in gun violence prevention, like funding for community violence intervention and prevention programs. This funding is critical to sustaining evidence-based, community-driven initiatives that address the root causes of gun violence in Pennsylvania.
If we want to continue our progress, we need to ensure our lawmakers expand funding for these important programs in the 2026-27 state budget.
Send your message NOW. Tell PA lawmakers to support funding for gun safety!
Dear Lawmaker,
As your constituent, I am writing to urge you to increase funding for gun violence prevention programs in the state budget this year to $68.3 million — the amount laid out by Governor Shapiro in this year's budget proposal. Continued investments in the Violence Intervention and Prevention Program and the Building Opportunity through Out of School Time (BOOST) Grant Program are essential to keep our communities safe.
The Trump-Vance administration has shuttered the national Office of Gun Violence Prevention, cut critical community violence prevention programs, and is actively working to undo the progress we've made on gun safety. Pennsylvania must step-up to fill in the gaps and take action to prevent gun violence in our state by continuing to fund community violence intervention efforts.
I hope that you will support funding community-based gun violence prevention efforts this session.
