Everytown for Gun Safety

Urge Florida Representatives to Protect the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School Public Safety Act

Gun-lobby backed representatives in the Florida House are attempting to repeal key pieces of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas Act; including laws that bar 18-20 year olds from purchasing guns and requiring a completed background check for firearm purchases.

Make your voice heard, and send a message to your Representative urging them to oppose these bills>>

Dear Lawmaker,

I am asking you, as a constituent, to oppose efforts to repeal key components of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School Public Safety Act.

HB 1223 would allow those as young as 18–one year younger than the Marjory Stoneman Douglas shooter–to purchase guns in Florida.

HB 17 reopens the "Charleston Loophole" that allows firearm purchases to proceed after 3 days, even if a background check has not been completed. Waiting periods are critical in preventing gun suicides–1,834 of which occur each year in Florida.

You have the opportunity to protect Floridians and vote against both of these bills. Please, prioritize public safety and vote no on HB 1223 and HB 17.
