Everytown for Gun Safety

Add My Name: Urge Illinois Lawmakers to Pass an Industry Accountability Bill

The passage of the Protect Illinois Communities Act, a critical gun violence prevention legislative package, earlier this year showcased the power of our movement and our lawmaker's commitment to curbing gun violence across the state.

Now, we're calling on them to pass legislation that would hold bad actors in the gun industry accountable for their part in this daily crisis. Every year, the gun industry rakes in approximately $9 billion, while gun violence kills 43,000 people in America and wounds 76,000. In our state, that looks like 1,622 gun deaths in an average year.

Illinois lawmakers have made measurable strides to protect our families from gun violence by passing some of the strongest gun laws in the country, like background checks on all gun sales and an Extreme Risk law. But lawmakers can do more to hold bad actors in the gun industry accountable and ensure access to justice for victims harmed as a result of dangerous conduct.

Our lawmakers need to hear from us.
