Dear Lawmaker,
Right now, state law does not prohibit individuals from buying cheap parts that are used to convert handguns into deadly machine guns. Alabamians should not be able to build a weapon of war at home like it's Ikea furniture.
HB 36 would align Alabama law with federal law, and close this dangerous loophole. This legislation is supported by the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, District Attorneys Association, Sheriffs Association, and Fraternal Order of Police. Additionally, the Mississippi legislature recently passed similar legislation and we must follow their lead this year.
