On National Gun Violence Awareness Day, this hearing will highlight the successes of state and local governments in combatting gun violence, using policies, programs, and funding supported by Democrats. The hearing will emphasize how these successes have contributed to a nationwide decrease in violent crime, which began before Trump took office. The hearing will also explore how the Trump administration has undermined these successes and how many more lives might be saved if Congress supported comprehensive crime prevention.
