The "Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act of 2017" just passed the House Judiciary Committee and is on the way to be voted on the House floor. This bill would gut state gun laws and force states to accept weaker concaled carry standards of other states. If passed, this law would allow dangerous individuals -- including people with dangerous histories and many domestic abusers -- to carry a loaded, hidden handgun across the country, putting the safety of our families and communities at risk.

Dear Representative,
After having just experienced two of the deadliest mass shootings in modern American history, our country expects Congress to strengthen our gun laws. Instead, Congress is considering legislation that would weaken our gun laws and make our communities less safe.
After the horrific mass shootings at a concert in Las Vegas and a church in Sutherland Springs, the American people have overwhelmingly urged their representatives to enact common sense gun safety laws. And yet, this week, the House Judiciary Committee voted out H.R. 38 -- the Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act of 2017 -- a bill that would undermine state gun laws and allow people with dangerous histories and no training to carry hidden, loaded handguns in public across the country.
This bill threatens public safety and would make it difficult or impossible for law enforcement to do their jobs and protect public safety. In fact, many of the nation's largest law enforcement organizations, including the Major Cities Chiefs Association and American Prosecutors Association, oppose this legislation because it weakens public safety.
Today I ask you, as my Representative, to please listen to the American people and reject H.R. 38 -- the Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act of 2017. Congress should instead move forward on legislation that helps improve our gun safety laws and make Americans safer.
