Congresswoman Lucy McBath (D-GA) recently introduced a strong lifesaving Red Flag bill in the U.S. House of Representatives. Your Representative can act now to advance this lifesaving bill that would help reduce gun violence in America. Send your Representative an email now and ask them to cosponsor this bill.
I urge you to cosponsor H.R. 3076, the Federal Extreme Risk Protection Order Act recently introduced by Congresswoman Lucy McBath. This Red Flag bill will allow family members and law enforcement to present evidence to a court for an order that would temporarily suspend a person's access to guns when the evidence shows that person poses a risk of using them to harm themselves or others.
Seventeen states and D.C. have passed Red Flag laws, including twelve after the mass shooting in Parkland, Florida. States around the country are turning to Red Flag laws as a common-sense way to help reduce gun violence. This bill would open federal courts to families and law enforcement, and it is the best way to ensure emergency action can be taken in all 50 states to intervene before a suicide or mass shooting. With gun violence devastating our country every day, intervening when these warning signs arise may be one of the best chances to stop a tragic act of gun violence from occurring.
Please cosponsor and pass the Federal Extreme Risk Protection Order Act to help reduce gun violence in America.
