Everytown for Gun Safety

OH Senate: Don’t override Gov. Kasich’s veto

Governor John Kasich recently vetoed HB 228, a gun bill that could allow out-of-state special interest groups to sue local Ohio governments for attempting to enact or enforce solutions to curb gun violence. Despite opposition from law enforcement and Ohioans like you, the Senate is determined to override the governor's veto and enact HB 228.

Tell your Senator to let Gov. Kasich's veto of HB 228 stand and REJECT any attempts to override the veto.

HB 228 would allow special interest groups to sue Ohio cities for attempting to enact or enforce local solutions to gun violence. This bill has received opposition from both Ohio law enforcement groups and Governor John Kasich, who recently decided to veto HB 228.

I'm counting on you to side with public safety and vote against overriding the governor's veto. Gun violence is a crisis gripping our nation which claims the lives of 100 Americans every day. In Ohio, over 1,400 people are shot and killed each year. Ohioans want our lawmakers to do more to reduce gun violence in our communities, not take our public safety laws backward.

Please REJECT any attempts to override Governor Kasich's veto of HB 228.
