Everytown for Gun Safety

Tell NC Lawmakers: Vote NO on Repealing Background Checks on Gun Sales!

North Carolina lawmakers are advancing a dangerous gun bill that would repeal background checks on all unlicensed handgun sales.

This bill would open up a massive and dangerous loophole in North Carolina. By eliminating the pistol purchase permit, it would eliminate the unlicensed sale background check requirement.

Send the following message to your North Carolina state representative to oppose HB 398 >>

Dear Representative,

As your constituent, I urge you to oppose HB 398.

This bill would reopen a dangerous loophole in our gun safety laws by eliminating the unlicensed sale background check requirement. This would make it easy for felons, domestic abusers, and people with dangerous histories to buy handguns.

Extremist gun groups may be in support of this bill, but they don't represent the overwhelming majority of North Carolinians who value our responsible gun ownership culture and support background checks when purchasing a firearm.

In the wake of numerous mass shootings in recent weeks, please focus on strengthening our gun safety laws and oppose HB 398.
