Everytown for Gun Safety

Act Now to Stop Illegal Guns in Illinois

The Combating Illegal Gun Trafficking Act, or SB 337 was voted out of the General Assembly last week and now awaits Governor Rauner's signature. When a similar bill was sent to the governor for his signature earlier this year, he vetoed it, so we need gun violence prevention supporters to turn out in full force in support of this important bill.

Send Gov. Rauner a message urging him to sign SB 337 into law TODAY.

Dear Governor Rauner,

I am writing to you as an Illinois resident to urge you to side with public safety and sign SB 337, the Combating Illegal Gun Trafficking Act. This bill would help curb the number of illegal guns in Illinois by requiring all gun dealers to abide by responsible business practices.

SB 337 was carefully crafted by a bipartisan group of lawmakers to address many of your concerns with the gun dealer licensing bill that you vetoed earlier this year. Specifically, this version levels the playing field for all businesses and cuts down on administrative burden, all while keeping the core public safety provisions that will help curb illegal guns in Illinois and hold corrupt dealers accountable. This bill passed with greater bipartisan support than the Gun Dealer Licensing Act, and is exactly the kind of thoughtful, bipartisan public safety solution you've called for the General Assembly to pass.

Enacting this bill and taking a stand against illegal guns is just common sense, and Illinoisans know that.

I urge you to stand for public safety and sign SB 337.
