The U.S. Senate could vote in just a few days to reauthorize the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA). Right now, it includes life-saving gun safety provisions that would help survivors and disarm convicted domestic abusers.
We need our lawmakers to pass this bipartisan legislation and reauthorize VAWA for the first time since 2013.

Dear Senator,
As your constituent, I urge you to support the bipartisan omnibus spending package that includes a reauthorization of the Violence Against Women Act, including a landmark common sense gun safety policy fix. This Violence Against Women Act Reauthorization fills many critical needs of survivors, including a provision that requires the federal government to notify relevant state, local, or tribal law enforcement when a domestic abuser (or any other prohibited purchaser) lies on a background check in an attempt to illegally buy a gun—known as NICS Denial Notification. This would give law enforcement the opportunity to intervene before an abuser can illegally obtain a firearm or do further harm. As your constituent I urge you to support the omnibus spending bill and the critical gun safety provisions included in the bill.
