Ghost guns are do-it-yourself guns made from parts that anyone can buy. It means teenagers and people with dangerous histories can make guns at home from kits—no background check, no questions asked.
We're determined to pass a law that stops ghost guns in California. Add your name to this petition to tell California lawmakers to stop ghost guns >>
As Californians, we're urging you to support AB 1621, a bill to expand the prohibition on ghost guns.
Ghost guns are do-it-yourself guns made from parts that anyone can buy. It means teenagers and people with dangerous histories can make guns at home from kits, with no background check and no questions asked.
AB 1621 would ensure that these parts and kits cannot be sold in the state until they're treated as firearms under federal law. It would require that the parts be sold with a serial number, and that the buyer undergo a background check.
Thirty percent of guns recovered by the ATF in California have no serial number on them, making it impossible for law enforcement to trace. Additionally, 20% of all guns recovered by the Los Angeles Police Department last year were ghost guns.
Please take action to stop ghost guns by supporting AB 1621. Thank you.
