Lawmakers in the Florida State legislature are debating SIX separate bills that would allow guns in our children's schools and force public state colleges and universities to allow people to carry loaded, hidden guns on campus.
With school shootings continuing to happen all over the country on an almost weekly basis, we should be passing laws that keep guns out of the hands of dangerous people, not adding more of them to the situation.
You can help stop these bills in their tracks. Send a message to Florida lawmakers today, and tell them that backpack and bullets don't mix.
Dear Florida Lawmakers,
I'm writing to urge you to vote NO on legislation that would allow guns into our children's schools, and force public state colleges and universities to allow guns on campus.
As a Florida voter, I want you to focus on keeping guns out of the hands of dangerous people -- not adding more guns to the situation.
College presidents, professors, students, moms, teachers and campus police chiefs all overwhelmingly oppose guns on campus, and we should be working for solutions that would actually prevent gun violence tragedies in our schools.
I hope I can count on you to stand up for the safety of Florida's schools and communities by voting NO on S.B. 176, S.B. 180, H.B. 4005, H.B 19 and H.B. 251.
