RSVP for a Wear Orange event, and help make this year's national gun violence awareness day the biggest yet.
VA-Charlottesville-Wear Orange for our Community
With social distancing changing how we interact with each other, our Wear Orange initiative has to look a little different. This year, we honor victims of gun violence by supporting charitable organizations in our community. We ask that from May 30 through June 27 our members donate to at least one of the many charities in the Charlottesville/Albemarle area while wearing something orange. Grab a picture of you donating in-person OR a selfie with your computer, donating online, & post it on social media with the hashtag #WearOrange! We'll be highlighting a few organizations that are partnering with us during this month of giving, so watch for those announcements too! If you're not in a position to give physical items or monetarily, consider writing a non-partisan letter to the editor about safe gun storage or the role of firearms in suicide/domestic violence/hate crimes. Or talk to your neighbors about the Be SMART program and safe storage to create a safer community.
