TO: Leonard Comma, CEO, Jack in the Box

Texas currently allows people to openly carry loaded rifles in public with absolutely no training, permitting, or minimum age requirement. And one such public display took place last week at a Jack in the Box in Fort Worth, TX.

Combined with the fact that an estimated 40 percent of gun sales occur without a background check in the U.S., this means that people can legally carry loaded rifles in Texas without ever having passed a criminal background check.

Jack in the Box reportedly has a policy prohibiting firearms in its corporate stores -- and the Fort Worth store is one of them. We call on you to enforce Jack in the Box’s no-firearms policy at all of its corporate locations and to encourage its franchisees to do the same. Without stronger state laws, the responsibility to protect employees and patrons falls to the business owner.

As a business leader, you have the opportunity to take a stand for common sense and customer safety. I urge you to implement policies to keep guns out of your restaurants.
