Everytown for Gun Safety

Take The Pledge: Stand With Domestic Violence Survivors

Here's the reality: more than half of the women killed with guns in the U.S. are murdered by their partners. Every month, 50 women are shot and killed in the U.S. by a current or former boyfriend or spouse. And the deadly mix of guns and domestic violence is exacerbated by America’s weak gun laws: women in the United States are 16 times more likely to be murdered with guns than women in other developed nations.

But it doesn't have to be this way. We know that commonsense gun laws will protect domestic violence survivors and save lives. In states that require comprehensive background checks, 47 percent fewer women are shot to death by intimate partners.

The gun lobby refuses to support commonsense changes that would reduce violence against women, but these laws save the lives of women and children in domestic violence situations. So we will never stop fighting to ensure lawmakers pass laws that protect domestic violence survivors from gun violence across the country.

Take the pledge now and stand with domestic violence survivors.
